This one brings lots of questions. Is it real? Real being, 1880's LaRosa Colorado Habana Display made of Cast Iron and featuring a dapper gentleman holding a cigar box.... OR is it a 1930's reproduction made to look like an 1880's original that NEVER EXISTED.
It has been said that this cast iron cigar box is a product of the
whimsy period of the late 20's - early 30's
Either way, it's old Auction results see this little box as a winner, and a great example of Black Americana Advertising... Typical auction value... $1800 I think it's 1880, and so do many of my colleagues. |
